Anegada is one of the more remote locations in the British Virgin Islands, with few accommodations but offering plenty of untouched outdoors for exploring.
One of the most scenic places to stay in Anegada is the Anegada Beach Club. Their website is very user-friendly and is easy to book a room online, as well as communicate by email with their front desk staff.
The staff is absolutely amazing and makes you feel at home right away. Brenda Reeh recently stayed at the Anegada Beach Club and this was her experience:
The hardest part of the trip, other than having to leave, is getting there. There are numerous ways to get to the island. They include public ferries from Tortola or Virgin Gorda, private water taxis from various places on the islands, a private flight from Tortola, or your own boat.
We chose a private water taxi for the eight of us and it was quick, easy, and fun! We flew into Beef Island on Tortola and took a taxi to the departure point of our water taxi. The water taxi provided music and drinks and a quick trip to Anegada.
The Captain telephoned Anegada Beach Club and they sent a shuttle to the dock to pick us up. Just like that, we were in our rooms and enjoying the Beach Club.
They were expecting us, so check-in was fast, and it was nice to put a face to the person from the emails.
We all opted for the regular hotel rooms surrounding the pool. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with amenities such as air conditioning, mini-fridges, ceiling fans, and more.
There is also an option for beachfront palapas that are beautiful. It’s the perfect spot for glamping if you’re into that. These luxurious tent-like accommodations feature their own showers, bathrooms, and private decks with hammocks.
There is a sense of peacefulness that abounds throughout the property, and whichever accommodations one chooses, one will be happy to be there.
Restaurant & Spa Facilities
The food is spectacular at the poolside restaurant. Anegada is famous for lobster and it doesn’t disappoint here. Lobster Benedict for breakfast, lobster tacos for lunch, and grilled lobster for dinner, so don’t miss out on it! You can also opt for local Caribbean fish and the typical American options like burgers and fries. There is a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu.
Of course, there were many other choices also and everyone was happy with their food. The drinks were cold and refreshing, and the bartender was so entertaining. There is a pool right there you can swim in anytime and it’s a short walk to the beach, where there is a beachside bar as well.
The spa was very peaceful and relaxing. Several of us received massages and everyone agreed that the experience was wonderful. The technicians were very professional and the atmosphere could not be improved upon.
If you’re up for an adventure, you can rent kayaks, paddleboards, bicycles, and snorkeling gear from the local shop or sign up for lessons.
The staff was awesome in helping us arrange rides to enjoy dinner at other places, our boat tour to Conch Island, picking up a rental car to use for one day to explore Anegada and then shuttling us back to the dock on our day of departure. Anything we needed, they were there to help.
While staying at the Anegada Beach Club, we also wanted to see some of the other places on the island. We had booked in advance a boat tour to Conch Island to see the flamingos with Kelly.
This was an incredible experience and we all loved it. The boat was so nice and comfortable. The guide was very knowledgeable and interesting and the flamingos were beautiful.
On another day, we rented scooters and a Moke and visited Cow Wreck Beach, Loblolly Bay as well as The Settlement.
Before we knew it, our time was up and we had to leave to continue our vacation on a catamaran sailing around the other British Virgin Islands for a week. It was hard to say goodbye to our new friends at Anegada Beach Club, but we hope to return soon.
